Watch: Why It’s Hard to Correlate Sulfur and Yield

In this video, we look at the complicated relationship between sulfur and yield, and why it is hard to correlate the two.

As independent agronomist Ray Dowbenko explains, this illustrates why some farmers faithfully apply this essential macronutrient, while others do not have it on their radar. The decision to apply sulfur often comes down to the type of crop and soil health.

Yet if there is sulfur deficiency in a field, the connection will become immediately apparent. Dowbenko notes this is a growing concern across North America, as decades-old environmental regulations have reduced industrial sulfur emissions (a greenhouse gas). However, in the process, it has led to a dramatic decrease in soil sulfur levels.
